How Stage 3 NHS Charities Together Funding will help to #spreadtheloveswansea
Thanks to funding from NHS Charities Together, Swansea Bay Health Charity has a total of £100,000 to create a series of commemorative gardens across the health board. The gardens will honour and remember those lost to Covid, whilst acknowledging the commitment and dedication of our staff and the community spirit shown during these difficult times.
NHS Charities Together is the national umbrella charity caring for the NHS. Swansea Bay Health Charity is one of the 241 members who can apply to benefit from their funding. Swansea Bay Staff will also benefit from a further £197,000 investment in wellbeing initiatives to support their mental health long term.
Debs Longman, Head of Fundraising, says; “We are so unbelievably grateful to NHS Charities Together for their support.
“These commemorative spaces will, of course, be memorials to all the people we lost to Covid, but they will also serve as testimony to the resilience and dedication of our staff, and the phenomenal support we received from the wider community.”
“This pandemic has proved to be a marathon, not a sprint, and the NHS will be feeling the effects of it for a long time. With that in mind we’re thrilled to be able to have additional funding to ensure that we have long-term wellbeing support available to our staff.
They’ve been there for us when we needed them, and this funding will allow us to be there for them.”
“Since the pandemic began we’ve been using the social media hashtag #spreadtheloveswansea and we have been overwhelmed by the love and generosity in Swansea Bay, and beyond.”
