An eager team of runners from the Paediatric and Emergency departments are set to run Swansea 10k to raise money for new equipment.
The team, which consists of staff groups from consultants to health care support workers, are joining forces to raise money to buy technology which will support their simulation training.
Paediatric consultant, Huma Mazhar, confirmed “Simulation training is vital to develop our staff. It allows us to run through scenarios in a safe setting away from patients. The lessons we learn from these simulations can then help us with future patient care”.
The current equipment is out of date and in need of an upgrade. The team are hoping to raise enough to purchase a new monitor which is vital to give an overview when simulations are taking place.
Runner, and nurse, Rachel Isaac told us “we work really well together on a day to day basis on the ward, and by joining forces to raise money as a team will only bring us closer together”
Training for the event is well underway and the team have set up a JustGiving page for donations.
